Meet Natalie

Welcome to Weer Farms! I'm Natalie, the owner and operator.

A few years ago, my stepdad came across this property from a farming friend. I remember my first time seeing the property. It had essentially been abandoned. The old barns and house told stories of prior generations, and I was willing to listen. Through a family loan, I moved in six months later.

I’m considered a fifth-generation farmer. However, women farming in my family…well, it doesn’t sit well. Utilizing my Ag Business and Animal Science degree, I started to come up with a plan on how I was going to make money generate income for myself and the farm. You see, I had faced health challenges that most employers wouldn’t understand.

My first year here, I opened a pumpkin patch and while it was a fun idea, it was a total flop. The second year, I had an idea to start growing flowers. It just so happened to be one of the hardest years for a new flower farmer. Facing a drought, I’d spend a minimum of five hours per day watering. While watering, I’d pull weeds. It was then that my pump went out. Luckily, I had help hauling water in. I started out arranging flowers and selling them. Though, I noticed there were flowers going to waste as I couldn’t sell them fast enough. A friend I had went to school with mentioned that I should have people come out here and pick. Reluctant to have strangers at the property, I decided to open. It was a hit! Not to mention, people enjoyed seeing the historic barns and the animals too. It was then that I realized that this could be a potential learning opportunity. Enter agritourism.

Each year, I plan something different. This year, I have over 80 varieties of flowers, vegetables, fruit, too many animals to count, a row crop operation, and much more!

I see myself as both a steward of the land and a teacher, especially passionate about educating children on the origins of their food. Some of my fondest memories were made on a farm, and I invite you to create your own here.
